- About The Artwork
- This handsome bracelet was most likely made by Jack Weekoty and either Martha Smiley, Marie Silver of any one of 7 Navajo artists using the MS stamp. It was fabricated from sheet silver with recut bezel material and hand-made silver raindrops for decoration between and around bezel setstones. All three of the silver bands making up the cuff are carefully ornamented using two hand-cut stamps. This cuff demonstrates an attractive sense of design, while being very sturdy in its construction. There are 40 low dome cabochons of turquoise divided into four rows of ten cabs each.
- About The Artist
- (20th century Zuni artist) Taught by the legendary Zuni lapidariest, Horace Iule, Weekoty specialized in channel inlay, as well as setting small turquoise cabochons. At times he spelled his name "Weekooty", although his hallmark consisted of his initials in Gothic print. The above information was derived from Barton Wright's Hallmarks of the Southwest.
