About The Artwork

This necklace is enhanced with blue and green enamel and lapis art glass ornamentation. There are three natural lapis beads in the cross. The cross dates from the last half of the 19th century, whereas the chain is sterling with vintage silver rossary beads and natural lapis cylinders. The cross is suspended from an amulet hook, so the chain can be unfastened, if desired. The chain is long enough to be slipped over your head. This was and still is a keepsake piece.

About The Artist

Originally from Flint, Michigan, ne Kateri Marie Dufault, Mrs. Weiss earned scholarships to attend Interlochen Center for the Arts and the University of Ann Arbor, Flint She has been cutting turquoise garnered from a large number of different mines since 1972, so she is entirely aware of its unique qualities. A professional sculptor, painter and designer, she has a background in engineering and architectural design to include drafting on a contract basis for fine jewelers as well as architectural offices. This highly capable woman is also a recognized expert in the authentication of Zuni fetish carving, Leekya Deyuse and his Zuni peers.
