- About The Artwork
- Delightful little "arrowpoint" wing thunderbird.
No maker's mark or sterling mark, but it is made of good silver and set with 3 beautiful hand-cut oval stones.
These turquoise stones are natural and range in color from teal green light and dark green to an intense pure sky blue. The stampwork ornamentation is carefully done and geometrically pleasing. The pin attachment runs from wing tip to wing tip horizontally across the back and is a quality manfactured finding with a safety catch.
Non-gender specific, this personal adornment collectible is attractive and out of the ordinary as "T-birds" come. This vintage bird would even by happy on a cowboy's or cowgirl's hatband.
- About The Artist
- The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
