About The Artwork
Tufa stone cast bracelet by Larry Golsh. Created in the mid 1970's, this piece achoes the contemporary push begun in the 1950's by Preston Monongye and in the 1960's by Charles Loloma. It is a fine example of Mr. Golsh's early work in silver and proudly bears his signature stamp. This piece is remarkably work hardened in the shaping and would be difficult to alter sans for the deeply sculpted pattern has "sand" textured negative spaces. This bold statement is not gender specific and will go rodeo to opera and especially that "power business meeting".
About The Artist
"Larry Golsh is a nationally recognized contemporary native American jeweler. He is best known for his tufa-cast jewelry and his use of gold in his Native American inspired designs. Golsh was born in Phoenix to Native American parents-his father was a California Pala Mission Indian and his mother was Cherokee. He attended Arizona State University studying engineering, architecture, getting his degree in the art with an emphasis in sculpture. From 1968 to 1972 he apprenticed with architect Paolo Soleri. In 1972 he first learned silversmithing and spent the next 12 years working as a jeweler with French jeweler Pierre Touraine. He also became the first Native American to study at the Gemological Institute of America." lifted from an online biography but as I have known Larry for more than 20 years, so I can vouch that the above is true.
