- About The Artwork
- Syncopated dancing is an elegant pursuit. Perhaps this is one factor in the popularity of the new television show pairing celebrities with professional dancers.
Etling was a retail shop in Paris, which during the 1920's and 1930's commissioned fine bronzes and the best in opalescent pressed glass.
- About The Artist
- "Lucie Sevin was a French sculptor who exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Francais. She won a bronze medal in 1932, a silver medal in 1937 and a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris the same year."
Excerpted from Benezit's Dictionary of Artists
"Lucie Sevin was known for her figures as well as her relief plaques."
Dictionary of Sculptors in Bronze by James Mackay
According to a citation in Volume Three of Bronzes 1800-1930 Sculptors and Founders, Sevin was actively producing work between 1920 and 1940. A beautiful example is illustrated on page 515 of this book titled Whispers. Sevin is also mentioned in McClinton's book Art Deco published in 1972.
