About The Artwork
A stylized cloud shape embellishes the jar as negative design hovering above a small round blue turquoise stone inset in the jar's wall. The walls of the jar taper upward.
About The Artist
This Santa Clara artist was born in 1965. Victoria Gutierrez, Julie's mother inspired her to begin making pottery at the age of twelve. Julie's sisters Effie Garcia and Sally M. Gutierrez instructed Julie about the ins and outs of working with natural clays and pigments. The look of Julie's pottery is based on the traditional way with a contemporary tweak to it, often adorning her pieces with turquoise stones. She is known to fashion small animals, mushrooms as well as vases and bowls.
