- About The Artwork
- Set of eight, perfect, very early 20th century long-handled tea/ soda spoons. The slender silver ingot handles are hammered, carefully stamped at the flared ends with a design reminiscent of a small down feather. The bowl of each spoon is created separately from a special work handened form, seamlessly hard soldered to its handle and decoratively stamped with a crescent. Charming fresh design, beautifully executed, Navajo crafted. A pleasure to look at and to use.
- About The Artist
- The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
