- About The Artwork
- Not for the timid. This is a bold contemporary ring with a large natural Bisbee turquoise stone!
Unstamped, most likely Navajo made, this post-modern style piece was made for a size 11 1/4 finger. The shank is composed of 3 mated and asymmetrically curved, thick half round silver "wires".
The smooth bezel encompassed by twisted square wire, is encircled by yet another band of "half round" with the curved side facing outward--creating a substantial but "quiet" frame for its centerpiece!!!
This is a very sophisticated piece that truly follows the principal "Less is More"!
- About The Artist
- The Navajo were the first of the Native Americans of the Southwest to learn silversmithing from the Spanish. Most Navajo jewelry emphasizes silver, with turquoise stones used as an accent. Some pieces are cast in sand or tufa molds, while others are hammered, using a male stamp and a female die.
