- About The Artwork
- Eighteen(18) hand-forged and stamped elements make up this traditional Navajo concho belt. Each element (concho, butterfly and buckle) has repousse detail as well as embossed stamping. This lends additional depth to the labor intensive layout of scalloped edges and bezel set oval turquoise cabochons.
The buckle is somewhat rectangular measuring 2" high X 2 1/2" in length with a tongue on bar fastened to the opening from behind. Its decoration resembles a bow or butterfly, which is echoed in the9 butterfly pieces that alternate with the8 oval conchos in the belt. Two well-matched oval turquoise cabochons bookend the buckle's opening.
Each domed oval measures 2" high X 2 1/8" length and features a repousse daisy pattern in the center. A copper band secures each element to the leather belt.
Well cared for, this belt would accent any garment with its classic, demonstrative design.
