- About The Artwork
- Geometric design inlay of four sacred colors employing turquoise, coral, jet and mother of pearl plus a center wedge of melon shell.
The hoops are suspended from a distinctive fluted, domed silver button post attachment.
- About The Artist
- A well-known Zuni jeweler, Thomasine Shack created a variety of inlay work. Her children work as silversmiths as well. This artist does not mark her work with her initials or a specific hallmark, but her preference for outlining elements with jet using an identifiable rythym serves to "mark" her work.
Two pages are devoted to this jeweler's work in Volume I of Zuni The Art and The People published in 1975 on pages 34 and 35. These pages provide full color photographs of several of Mrs. Shack's pieces along with a photograph of the artist.
